"I know for many women cooking is a chore. Fortunately for me, cooking has always been a joy, an adventure. In the confines of my own kitchen, each time I swirl butter into a pan and watch it foam, rub crushed garlic and rosemary onto a rack of lamb, each time I melt chocolate to start a cake, I begin a uniquely rewarding culinary journey that awakens the emotions, electrifies all the senses and evokes vivid memories. Sometimes the journey takes me to the past, such as when I am cooking one of my mother’s recipes. Sometimes it transports me to exotic lands, or makes me revisit familiar ones, as when I cook with spices and flavours I first tasted overseas. Sometimes it brings me new friends or cements old friendships, just like the one Dominica and I share. Sometimes it brings my children into the kitchen to dip their fingers into whatever is being made.

No matter the journey, the final destination is always the same: to the heart. In fact, the journey begins and ends in one place, the heart. From mine to my family, my friends and my guests, and from mine to yours.

Because love really is the most important ingredient of all. Cook from the heart and the food will always be DELICIOUS." Claudia

"Cooking reflects the way we live. Our boys once said, ‘Food is life or death!’ Food is indeed a passion in our family; meal times are special times. My mother has always been an amazing cook and hostess. I recall numerous dinner parties at home and I loved being a part of it all, folding the napkins, cutting intricate vegetable decorations and of course, tasting the food!

Now a mother of three boys myself, I am continuing the family tradition of making meals the centre of family life; there is so much joy to be shared chatting over a bowl of noodles, indulging in freshly baked chocolate brownies, or sharing a leftover piece of treacle tart. It doesn’t matter if the fare is complex, basic or simply just a taste, the result always gives comfort and satisfaction. Savoury or sweet, food brings back good memories, or simply pleases. I love the whole process, from kneading dough, chopping fresh coriander, watching Yorkshire pudding rise to immersing myself in the aroma of cooking!

Claudia and I decided to write a second book because we had so much fun writing the first, and we hope these new recipes bring more happy times to you and your families. Cooking should be fun and if it doesn’t work out quite as you expect, improvise and create your own dish! So, put on the apron and start cooking!" Dominica
